Roland Kruck

Roly has been riding for Doin' Bikes for three years now. We first met Roly at Oran Park, when we first opened the shop. He was riding his TL1000R at that time and we were laughing in disbelief watching him come onto the straight, rubbing his shoulder on the wall, trying to get every ounce of power out of the bike he could. We asked him if he'd want to ride a CBR929 in the 6 hour at Eastern Creek with us, and he agreed. His times in that race were pretty good, and so both he and us decided that he would contest the 2001 Formula Extreme series on that 929. With a very limited budget and Roly's first year on a four cylinder bike in a while, he took out the A Grade Privateer cup.

For winning that series, Roly scored himself an R-1, which he was required to ride the following year. It took a little while to get the bike sorted to how Roly likes it, but once he did, he was lapping at 1 sec off what the factory guys lap, and at the last race at the end of 2002, was dicing with the likes of Josh Brookes and Warwick Nowland, being beaten on the line in 2 races.

For 2003, after seeing what Roly can do on mediocre equipment (compared to the big guys) we decided to enter Roly in a class he had loved in the past and on a bike that we knew we could get competitive, even though Honda thought they and we could not. We got an SP-1 and after the first round, where it was virtually stock, Roly was right up there. We were eventually winning races and were leading the championship by 33 points with 2 rounds to go until we ran into a little bad luck (suspension) in the Qld round which brought us right back with the rest of the field. But after two race wins in the last round on the Saturday, Roly was looking good for the championship. More bad luck though as Roly was unfairly pinged for a jump start of which we weren't even told until well after the race had finished. Appeals fell on deaf ears though and if not for that, the title was ours by the end of the weekend.  Anyone that knows Roly will tell you that he's one of the nicest guys in the world of road racing in Australia and it's been an absolute pleasure in helping Roly achieve what he has achieved, and we'll continue to help Roly in any way we can in the future.

Roly's race results and history can be found below.
