Jeremy Crowe finished the Mallala round of the Oz super sport title with a round win, race win and a new lap record. Doin' Bikes is proud to be associated woth the Yamaha team of Crowe and Staring for the mapping duties for their bikes. Below is the team report:

The Yamaha Racing Team's Superbike and Supersport riders have experienced a
rare weekend of mixed results following a tough round at Mallala Motorsport
Park in South Australia.

The Supersport outfit fared typically well, with Jeremy Crowe recording his
first race and round victory of the year on the YZF-R6, backed up by Jamie
Stauffer just a single point behind.

Teammate Bryan Staring was injured in a spectacular crash earlier in the
weekend, and was sidelined for a zero-points weekend.

Luck abandoned the Superbike sibling pairing of Jamie and Dan Stauffer
despite Jamie laying down the fastest ever lap of Mallala on a motorcycle.

Stauffer recorded a 1.05.895 lap in practice, an effort over six-tenths
better than the exisiting record.

The team will regroup before heading to the series' third outing at Winton
Motor Raceway at the end of May.

The Yamaha Racing Team's Jeremy Crowe has won today's second round of the
Australian Supersport Championship at Mallala Motorsport Park in South
Australia courtesy of two hard-fought performances in which he scored his
first race win for the season, backed up by a solid second placing.

Crowe entered the second round brimming with confidence after a test session
saw him draw even with teammate Jamie Stauffer on the top rung on the
timesheets, and was on song all weekend on the class-leading R6 machine.

Crowe diced with Stauffer for much of the opening 19-lap race where riders
were forced to deal with strong winds which buffeted them through the 2.6km
circuit's tight series of turns and straight sections.

Stauffer won out by a mere .320 seconds as the chequered flag was waved, but
Crowe turned the tables in the second and final race of the day, taking
first from Josh Waters with Stauffer home in third.

Jeremy's 45 point haul was just 1 clear of Stauffer on 44, who grabbed an
extra point for pole earlier in the weekend.

As well as the round win, Crowe also set the new lap record for the
Supersport class, laying down a 1.07.573 in race 1.

"The plan this weekend was to get a good start and get out in front, and
hopefully stay there," said Crowe.

"Full credit to the team, they worked hard at the test and we had the best
bike and best setup for this race."

"There was no way anyone was going to get me there in race two once I was in
that zone."

"Josh (Waters) raced well, I tried hard to shake him but each lap the pit
board showed he was still right on my tail so this pushed me to keep finding
more pace in the bike."

"It's good to get my first win early in the season and a strong bank of
points towards the championship, I can't wait to continue this on at Winton
next round."

At the conclusion of two from seven rounds, Stauffer still holds the
advantage over Crowe in the standings, leading the charge on 95 points
versus his younger teammate's 83.

It was a nightmare outing for Bryan Staring, who had entered the round in
third place.

Staring lost control of his R6 through the infamous back straight kink,
tumbling from the bike at close to 200km/h during practice.

He was treated for a fractured wrist at the scene and as a result was
sidelined from further competition. The unfortunate zero-points result sees
him slip to tenth in the standings, though his form suggests he will take
little time to rocket back up the ladder if he is fit for the next round.

History

Congratulations to Mark Aitchison and Brendan Clarke for finishing 1st and 3rd in the Oz supersport championship privateer cup for 2005. And we'd like to thank all the other riders and teams that have used Arata and Doin' Bikes for their exhausts and mapping including Rapid Magazine, Zak and Sam Davies, Dustin Goldsmith, Jeremy Crowe, Jordan Coote, Jarrod Curran and Ralph Mammoliti (WA State Champ).

Mark Aitchison finished 2nd by just .015/sec in a replica of the Moto GP support race being slip streamed over the line by Josh Brookes, winner of both the Supersport and SBK championships this year but made up for it by winning the 2nd race and clinching the 2005 Super sport Privateer Cup. Congratulations to Mark, Marty and the rest of the team on a great season finishing 3rd over all, winning the Privateer cup, taking 2 Round wins over all and taking out the Samurai Trophy to join the ranks of Gardner, Mladin etc.

Qld round of Superbikes last weekend (16-18/9) saw both top Arata racers 1 and 2 on the time sheets after both practice sessions

With the success of such riders as Mark Aitchison and Brendan Clarke, the list of riders using Arata for their bikes, continues to grow. Doin' Bikes would like to thank the following riders for their support and are happy to have been able to provide them with the best exhaust systems available for their bikes:

Mark Aitchison,  Brendan Clarke, Rapid Magazine's Jeremy Crowe on their CBR600RR, Zak and Sam Davies on Australian security concepts R6's, Grant Hay on the Shock Treatment R6 , Ralph Mammoliti (WA State Champion) on his Northside Kawasaki 05 ZX6, Dustin Goldsmith on a 600RR, Roland Kruck on his CBR1000RR, Jarrod Curran on an R6 and the list is growing with the success of these riders using these systems to beat the factory guys.

Round 2 of the YMF Loans Australian Supersport Championship was held at Eastern Creek Raceway on 29th, 30th April & 1st May, with The Fraser Motorcycle Yamaha Team taking the round win. Rider Mark Aitchison had a great weekend, he qualified 2nd just behind pole sitter Josh Brookes (Joe Rocket Honda). Mark finished 2nd in race 1, then took his first race win in the Supersport category in race 2; this in turn was good enough to also take the round win.

Friday Schedule was 2 x 30 min free practise sessions. Mark came away at the end of both sessions on top of the time sheet setting the pace at a 1 minute 35.0.

Saturday, there was 2 x 30 min qualifying sessions, and with the tyre rule being 2 sets of tyres to qualify and have 2 races on, setting a good time quickly so to save your tyres for racing was a must. Mark quickly jumped to the top of the time sheet in the first session only to be pushed back to second as the Joe Rocket Honda of Josh Brookes took the top spot with a time of 1 minute 34.9 sec; Mark was 2nd with a time of 1 minute 35.1sec.

The 2nd qualifying session was one where only a few riders improved there lap times, but the front row was unchanged, so for the second time in as many meetings Mark put the Fraser Motorcycle Yamaha Team R6 in second spot on the grid.

Sunday, Race Day, with fine weather conditions forecast the team was confident that they had a good package and were hopeful of a good result.

Race 1 Josh Brookes (Joe Rocket Honda) shot straight to the lead, with Mark Aitchison Fraser Motorcycle Yamaha Team not too far behind, straight away both riders started to gap the rest of the field. Brookes had pulled out a small gap on Mark, but by lap 5 Mark had pulled the gap back and was contesting for the lead, the next 5 laps were exhilarating with both riders taking turns at leading the race, some of the overtaking manoeuvres were awesome, which made for great entertainment for the crowd. With 3 laps to go Brookes pulled a small gap on Mark and we all thought that would be it, he is going to settle for 2nd, but Mark had other plans and with 1 lap to go closed the gap on Brookes, but Brookes was too strong and was able to hold off the fast charging privateer and take the win .2 of a second in front of Mark. Josh Waters (Team Kawasaki Australia) finished 3rd, some 12 seconds behind Mark.

Race 2 The Scene was set for yet another great race between Brookes & Mark, and it started the same as Race 1, with Brookes taking the lead, closely followed by Mark. As the duo went through turn 3 for the first time, the Michelin shod Joe Rocket Honda of Josh Brookes came unstuck and both rider and bike went tumbling towards the infield, thankfully Brookes was ok and walked away. This left Mark Aitchison out in front with a 2 second gap over 2nd place Josh Waters (Team Kawasaki Australia). Over the next couple of laps Waters closed the gap to Mark but was not able to make a pass, and then as they went through turn 4 Waters had a huge moment and appeared to settle for 2nd as he had a commanding lead over 3rd place. Back at the front Mark extended his lead to take a comfortable win, and in doing so win the 2nd round of the YMF Loans Australian Supersport championship. After winning Race 2 Mark stated:

“This weekend I have gained a lot of confidence, because now I know that I can win races and be a major championship threat. The Fraser Motorcycle Yamaha R6 is working so well, and the team is really coming together, so I hope to do exactly what I have done here this weekend in Perth. We are confident that we can keep this rhythm going throughout the season. I would just like to thank everyone who has supported me over the years, because without them I would not be in the position that I am in now.”

Mark now sits in 5th spot in the championship.  The Fraser Motorcycle Yamaha Team next race is round 3 in Perth at the end of May.

Doin' Bikes have spent the last 5 years testing exhausts and other parts, racing bikes and mapping some of the best race bikes in the country all for YOU. Coz when you talk to Doin' Bikes, you can be confident that what we advise you on, for your bike, we do so because of the time and money spent and experience gained from dynoing and racing our bikes to know what works best for YOU. 2005 sees many teams using the Arata exhausts this year, including Brendan Clarke, Mark Aitchison, Roland Kruck, Zak Davies, Sam Davies, Dustin Goldsmith and more. But unlike the Factory teams, that use what they are paid to use, these guys are paying for what they KNOW works best.

You can keep up to date on how these racers and teams are doing in 2005 right here.

Glenn Allerton (2nd Overall 04 Supersport) in action at Qld Raceway using Arata exhaust systems

2002, Doin' Bikes ran Roland Kruck on a Honda VTR SP-1 in Pro Twins, Formula Extreme. The bike that everyone, including Honda, said wasn't competitive in our racing series with the Pro Twins rules. Roland (Roly) has ridden for us on 3 occasions now over 6 years, firstly on a Honda CBR929 Fireblade, with which we took out the Formula Extreme A Grade Privateer cup, winning Roly an R1 in the process. Then in 2002 on the bike he won, he got to lap times of 1:34's at Eastern Creek and pushed the likes of Warwick Nowland and Josh Brookes to their limit at the Australasian Championships at Eastern Creek. That's quite an achievement for a privateer. So in 2003, we put a full team effort into Roly's abilities on an SP-1 in the Pro Twins class. To say we came close is an understatement.

Right from round one, where we started with a stock bike with an exhaust and mapping, Roly was right there all year. After the Winton round, we were 33 points ahead of both the Factory Ducati and factory Aprilia teams. And after showing these guys what we could do, the Ducati team then called upon Doin' Bikes for help in mapping their 999. To say we were surprised is an understatement. No matter how well Yamaha did in Moto GP in 05, you couldn't see Honda asking them for help could you? You know you're doing something right when.............. so after an unusually bad round in Qld, with major suspension problems that saw us just 3 points from lead, we needed a big last round to take it out. Things didn't quite go our way and while Roly won the series on race results and points, (starting from the 3rd row of the grid) a rediculous jump start penalty (called 2 hours after the race had taken place) took the win from our grasp.

Regardless of the politics involved in the protests that followed, it proved to all that Doin' Bikes could prepare and tune a bike that was more than capable of beating the factory boys and did just that. In fact, the factory Ducati team and the Australian Security Concepts Aprilia teams were so impressed that they sought our services for the mapping of their bikes. A.S.S had their bike mapped here right from the start, but after half a eason watching our SP1 beat them, with two rounds to go, Ducati came to US to get their bike back to the front. Think about that for a second. (I know we had to when we were asked) That's the equivalent of Bayliss's Ducati team in 2002 going to the Castrol Honda team to get their bike mapped for that last round epic battle with Edwards for the title. It just doesn't happen.

Roly on his way to taking out the Winton round of Formula Extreme Pro Twins

So when you want your bike to be at it's best, or you want to know what works and what doesn't, ask the guys that beat the Factory boys on a bike that just shouldn't cut it. We KNOW what works and while sometimes it may go against what you wanted to hear or what other people happily agree to to get your money, Doin' Bikes will give you the oil on what DOES work and what is just plain BS. Trust the people that our competition sought out to get their bike back to the front.
