After years of Ducati riders putting pre programmed chips for the mapping of their bikes, they are finally seeing the light. We have
mapped a 748 in the past that had one of these chips, that was the worst fuel injection map we have seen. It was mega rich at cruising speeds which made it cough and stutter when winding on, and then so lean up top it's a wonder it still goes.
When all is said and done, each bike needs it's own map to run at it's peak. Two identical GSXR600's we
mapped on the same day, once mapped, showed very different values in what was
needed to get them to where they needed to be. Same bike, same filter, same pipes, DIFFERENT MAP.
And
after almost a year trying to tune the bike themselves in 2003, the Factory
Ducati team with Craig McMartin ended up putting a powercommander on their 999,
and bringing it to us to get mapped. There's only so long you can watch an
almost privateer SP-1 keep pulling away from you before you just have to accept
that you're going down the wrong path and that they (us) are on the right path.
